I don’t have to believe my mind’s torment?

  • The Mistake:  I will wait for fear thoughts to go away and then I will speak.

  • The Truth: I make a habit of repeating truth about myself.

My Truth:

  • I know my material will help them.  I’m only here to help them.
  • My goal is to be excellent, not perfect.
  • They are here for the information, not the speaker.
  • I rehearse the Opener and Close so they are smoother.
  • Everyone is normally nervous in the first 5-minutes.  I rehearse to act like my confident self when I begin.
  • I transfer Ideas and am not concerned with using the same words each time.
  • Notes are insurance if I lose my place or my mind goes blank.
  • When I make mistakes, I correct them and continue speaking.
  • My goal is to be my best self.  I don’t compare myself with anyone.
  • I notice my tiny improvements which motivate me to continue improving.
  • I anticipate questions and rehearse my answers aloud.
  • I use my improved skills all day to build my confident speaking habits for important talks.
